Lots of great activities coming into the calendar for October.
October is Confido month and we always aim to take part in Jamboree on the Internet too.
This October introduces something new!
All out adventure.
4 action packed days. 3 dazzling nights. 1 amazing city. Scouts and explorers from around Houghton-le-Spring District will hit the capital this October, ready for a weekend of exploration and adventure.
27th - 30th October 2016
See the capital from a whole new perspective.
Across the trip, scouts work in groups to navigate their way across the capital using the tube and busses, accompanied by adult leaders.
Explorers will be in groups and will navigate their own way around the capital, keeping safe by checking in with adults regularly and being in constant contact with the adult team.
Young people always come home from something like this with a buzz and as one big team.
Staying right in the heart of the action
Our base will be Holland Park Youth Hostel (link). The
The whole hostel is newly refurbished and is of high standard, with most rooms en-suite. Scouts will have seperate accommodation to explorers and boys and girls seperated.
Transport
We leave and return from London by coach. We’ve used our coach company - North East Coast Travel (formerly KJS) many times.
We have had faultless support from them over the years and the company comply with stringent standards of safety and child protection. Whilst in London, we’ll use public transport (e.g. Bus and Tube).
Safety
Managing safety is our top priority and is always a focus. We have a proven track record of large group trips and we have a risk assessment in place.
We have an experienced team of adult leaders going who have attended trips like this before.
