The next step is to get our paperwork sorted out and our teams properly prepared.
The organisers have sent out two documents that we need to complete and send back by the 19th of March.
You can download your copies here. The event will be taking place in and around the Pybus campsite here. I'm running Scouts on the friday so we will need to get a travel plan in place with parents who can offer lifts. You need to get to Pybus between 7-8pm on Friday the 26th of March
We also need to sort out before the 19th:
- Data Checking Sheets. There is a summary in the booking pack. Please make sure all the details are correct – if they are not please let us know immediately. These names will be used to print your team’s certificates.
- Consent Forms All participants are required to complete a consent form. I have enclosed a copy in this pack and further copies are also available to download at www.durhamscouts.org.uk/ggc. Please return these forms to us by the 19th March 2010 at the latest.
- Food Menu We also ask all teams to plan their meals for the weekend so that they consume enough calories to give them adequate energy for a day in the hills.
Before the competition we need to organise:-
- Tents - Who will be sleeping in which tents. Do you know how to put them up.
- Cooking equipment and food - You need to supply your own food. Full details are in the documents above.
- Training - As you will need to be able to produce route cards we need to schedule a training session before the event. I'm sure it will just be a refresher for most of you. Particulalrly those who did bronze expeditions last year.
- Kit check - We will need to make sure that every member of the team has the equipment they need as per the kit list and that each team has their emergency equipment.
I would like to appoint a leader for each team to be responsible for making sure that the team are properly organised. Have a think about whether you would like that to be you.
It would be very useful If you could stay after Explorers for half an hour tomorrow night to help put a plan together. Can you please arrange this with whoever picks you up.
Lets work together to ensure that it is a really great event.
