Oxfam Water Walk

We did a fundraising Water Walk on Saturday to raise some money and awareness  for Oxfam. It wasn’t as well turned out as I had hoped but a number of cubs were on holiday. The people that did turn up did very well and hopefully raised a few pennies in sponsorship. Over the past few weeks we have been learning about the lack of clean safe drinking water inparts of Africa and other countries. We made posters advertising our Water Walk event and also we spent an evening doing activities, games and watching short videos about the problems they face getting clean water to drink and cook with, and the lack of proper infrastructure due to war, drought and other natural disasters etc.. It was a very interesting topic and most of the cubs really paid attention. Hopefully they went home and told their parents about what they had learned, thus raising more awareness.

The posters they did were fantastic, they are already on the blog under the heading, “Making Posters to Raise Awareness”.
