Scouts get the firefighter’s badge

Our current programme theme is fire and to kick it all off we decided to have a go at the firefighter’s badge. Scouts learned all about the different fire extinguishers – with each patrol getting to fight their corner on why there’s was the best as well as how fires start and how acting quickly and safely can save lives. They worked out fire evacuation plans for camp, home and our HQ and were treated to a simulated fire, complete with smoke and flames, to test out the plan. Thanks to Mr Kennedy from the Fire Brigade for giving us a really memorable night. The Scouts were challenged to complete the badge by having a family meeting at home to come up with a fire evacuation plan. They were also offered a free  smoke alarm.
